Hovhannes Davtyan and Ferdinant Karapetyan failed the World Judo Grand Prix qualifying tournament

Armenia’s judo team front runner Hovhannes Davtyan and Ferdinant Karapetyan came out at the World Judo Grand Prix in the Chinese city Qingdao which was qualifying for the Olympics. Hovhannes Davtyan (60kg) lost to the Kazakh Alibek Imashev in the first fight and dropped out of the competition. Ferdinant Karapetyan (66kg) in the first fight gained advantage over the Russian Denis Lavrentev. In round 2 the Armenian judoka was defeated by Kengo Takaichi (Japan) and left the tournament.

The Armenian athletes had left for Qingdao headed by Hovhannes Davtyan’s personal coach Karen Simonyan.
