Armenia’s chess team member Htrant Melkumyan became the silver medalist of the European Rapid Chess Championship. At the European Chess Championship underway in the capital city of Minsk, Belarus Melkumyan picked 9,5 points of 11 possible and took the second place.
Armenia’s another representatives, Tigran Petrosyan came 6th, Sergey Movsisyan 12th, Zaven Andreasyan 19th and Gevorg Harutyunyan 57th. The winner of the European Rapid Chess Championship became Russia’s Ivan Popov.
