CISM Military World Games. Wrestler Karen Aslanyan a silver medalist

The 6th Military World Games are being held in Myungyeong,  South Korea. 

A Greco-Roman wrestler Karen Aslanyan (66kg) came out on October 10.

The former champion of World Junior Wrestling Championships began the fight from 1/8 finals where gained a victory (9:4) of Denis Demyankov (Ukrain). The next rival of our athlete was the Polish David Karechinski whom Aslanyan also beat with a score 11:2. In semifinals in a rather intense fight Aslanyan prevailed on Husein Mohamed (Egypt) (10:9). In finals our athlete gave the pass (0:6) to the Korean Ji Hun Kim and became the silver medalist of the 6th Military World Games.

It is the second medal of Armenia. On October 9, a Greco-Roman wrestler Sargis Kocharyan (80kg) won the bronze medal.

Military World Games are being held for the 6th time. This year 8700 athletes from 110 countries take part in the Games. Armenia takes part in the games for the first time. Our delegation has left for Korea with 15 athletes who will compete in Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling, judo, taekwondo and cycling.
