Armenia’s chess team front-runner Levon Aronyan celebrated his first victory at the Chess Candidates tournament.
In the third round Aronyan competed with Veselin Topalov. The rather long match at least ended on the 50th move. Aronyan playing black gained advantage over Topalov and forced him to retreat.
This is the first victory of Aronyan at the Candidates tournament. In the next round he will play with Peter Svidler.
