The Armenian weightlifters, who had taken part in the World Weightlifting Championship in Thailand, arrived in Yerevan. At Zvartnots Airport they were welcomed by ANOC President Gagik Tsarukyan, ANOC Secretary General Hrachya Rostomyan, famous athletes and many fans.
The weightlifters entered the airport lounge accompanied by the ANOC president. In a briefing with journalists he commented on the weightlifters’ performances at the world Championship.
“Glory and honor to our athletes and their coach, Pashik Alaverdyan, who could lead Armenia among 107 countries to the top 3 places. We have two world champions, we would also have the third, Andranik Karapetyan, if he could participate properly but he will yet prove he can win a gold medal of the world championship and Olympic Games. We believe in him, there is no other second like him. Today we have many talented athletes, our nation is small but there are many talented people who bring recognition to the nation. These victories are a great honor for us. Everyone participated and ended his performance and only after it Simon performed. It’s an honor for our nation. Glory and honor to his family! He must take part in the Olympic Games and become a champion. He is our pride, strength and reputation,” Gagik Tsarukyan concluded.
