World Championship: Erik Petrosyan drops out of competition

In the first bout of the World Boxing Championship underway in Russian Yekaterinburg Armenia’s representative Erik Petrosyan (57 kg) lost 0:5 to Canada’s Eric Basran and dropped out of the competition.

Earlier Armenian representatives Arman Darchinyan (75 kg) had started performing with a victory and qualified for the 1/16 finals while Artush Hovhannisyan (81 kg) had lost the first bout and left the struggle.

The Armenia boxing team had left for the World Championship with 8 boxers. Artur Hovhannisyan (52 kg), Hovhannes Bachkov (63 kg), Koryun Astoyan (69 kg), Henrikh Sargsyan (91 kg) and super heavyweight Gurgen Hovhannisyan will compete in Yekaterinburg too.
