World Championship: Artush Hovhannisyan loses first bout

Artush Hovhannisyan at 81 kg had an unsuccessful start at the World Boxing Championship being held in Yekaterinburg, Russia.

The Armenian representative lost the first bout 1:4 to Netherland’s representative Artyom Gasparyan and dropped out of the struggle.

Earlier on September 9 Arman Darchinyan who had started performing in the 75 kg weight class had qualified for the 1/16 finals.

The Armenia boxing team has left for the World Championship with 8 boxers. Artur Hovhannisyan (52 kg), Erik Petrosyan (57 kg), Hovhannes Bachkov (63 kg), Koryun Astoyan (69 kg), Henrikh Sargsyan (91 kg) and super heavyweight Gurgen Hovhannisyan will compete in Yekaterinburg too.
