Minsk 2019: Karen Tonakanyan reaches semifinals securing bronze medal

Boxer Karen Tonakanyan (60 kg) will become a medalist of the 2nd European Games.

On the sixth day of the European Games underway in Minsk Tonakanyan fought against British Calum French in the ¼ final.

Winning 3:2 Tonakanyan reached the semifinals and secured at least a bronze medal.

On June 28 Tonakanyan will face Belarusian Dzmitry Asanau in the semifinal.

Karen Tonakanyan had begun the struggle from the 1/8 finals where he had defeated Spanish Cristian Vasquez.

Tonakanyan is the second Armenian boxer who has reached the semifinal.

On June 25 Arthur Hovhannisyan (49 kg) had also qualified for the semifinal.

Today Armenian boxers Anush Grigoryan (51 kg), Baregham Harutyunyan (52 kg) and Gurgen Hovhannisyan (+91 kg) who performed earlier suffered defeats in the ¼ finals.

On June 26Hovhannes Bachkov (64 kg) and Gor Nersesyan (81 kg) will enter the ring.
