President of the National Olympic Committee of Armenia Gagik Tsarukyan attended the final bouts of the sambo competition of the European Games being held in Minsk.
The ANOC president awarded the medalists in the women’s 48 kg weight class.
Also the ANOC president followed the Armenian samboists’ performances from the stand.
Let us recall samboist David Grigoryan (82 kg) became a silver medalist of the 2nd European Games.
In the final Grigoryan lost 0:7 to Russia’s Andrey Perepelyuk.
David Grigoryan had started the struggle from the quarterfinals where he had defeated 3:1 Italian Alessio Miceli.
In the semifinals Grigoryan’s opponent had been Georgian Besarioni Berulava whom our wrestler had won 1:0 and had got a right to fight for a gold medal.
This was Armenia’s first medal at the 23nd European Games.
Today Armenian samboists Maksim Manukyan (57 kg) and Asya Lalazaryan (48 kg) also performed losing the fights for bronze medals.
On June 23 our samboists Tigran Kirakosyan (52 kg), Arsen Ghazaryan (74 kg) and Grigor Sahakyan (90 kg) will enter the mat.
Karush Ghukasyan became a silver medalist
On the 5th competition day wrestlers of 55, 63, 77, 87 and 130 kg entered the mat.
