Wrestler Sargis Kocharyan a bronze medalist of the 6th CISM Military World Games

The 6th Military World Games are being held in Myungyeong, Korea. 

On October 9 Greco-Roman wrestlers Gevorg Gharibyan (59kg), Rafael Aleksanyan (71kg) and Sargis Kocharyan (80kg) came out.

Sargis Kocharyan (80kg) began the fight from 1/8 finals winning Boldbatar Ochiri (Mongolia) 8:0. In ¼ finals the Armenian wrestler beat Jun Hyung Kim (Korea) scoring 8:3. In ½ finals Kocharyan lost 1:4 to Rafig Huseynov (Azerbaijan) . In fight for the bronze medal Kocharyan prevailed on Julius Matuzyevichius (3:0).

Rafael Aleksanyan (71kg) beat Samran Nasibov (Azerbaijan) in 1/8 finals scoring 8:0. In rather intense rivalry of semifinals Aleksanyan gave the pass to the Iranian Muhamadali Gerae (4:5) and the last one reached the final. This gave an opportunity to our wrestler to fight for the bronze medal. The Armenian won the battle against the Indian Yardavi scoring 4:2. Aleksanyan lost the bronze medal to Ibrahim Eldsuki (Egypt) (4:10).

Gevorg Gharibyan (59kg) lost in the very first round and remained out of competition.

Military World Games are being held for the 6th time. This year 8700 athletes from 110 countries take part in the Games. Armenia takes part in the games for the first time. Our delegation has left for Korea with 15 athletes who will compete in Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling, judo, taekwondo and cycling.
