Aronyan won world champion Carlsen in Stavanger

Armenian chess team’s front runner Levon Aronyan won world current champion Magnus Carlsen at the Stavanger tournament.

In round 8 of the international tournament underway in the Norwegian Stavanger the Armenian grandmaster’s opponent was world current champion Magnus Carlsen. Aronyan was playing with white pieces and on the 31th move of the game he made Carlsen throw in the towel.
Now Aronyan is leading the standings with 5 points. In the last round he will compete with Pentala Harikrishna.
