Armenia’s men’s chess team members Gabriel Sargsyan, Hrant Melkumyan and Sergey Movsisyan participated in the Reykjavik Open 2016.
Sergey Movsisyan and Hrant Melkumyan each scored 7, 5 points of 10 possible and shared 3-11 places. After all by additional showings Movsisyan finished 6th and Melkumyan – 9th. Gabriel Sargsyan earned 7 points placing 18th.
India’s Abhijeet Gupta became the winner of the tournament. This year 235 chess players from 31 countries of the world took part in the Reykjavik tournament.

At 72 kg Malkhas Amoyan lost the repechage round.
The 32-year-old wrestler had four wins.
The tournament will be attended by teams from 8 countries
At World Boxing Championship in Doha the Armenian boxer Hovhannes Bachkov (64kg) reached the quarter-finals .
