Armenia Greco-Roman team member Karapet Chalyan conquered a bronze medal at the European Wrestling Championship.
In the fight for the third position Chalyan’s opponent was Azerbaijan’s Elvin Mursaliev. The Armenian wrestler managed to gain advantage over the Azerbaijani wrestler with a score of 4:1.
Previously, in the qualification round Karapet Chalyan (75kg) had competed with Germany’s Jan Rotter managing to win him 7:6 in a stiff fight. In the 1/8 finals Chalyan had defeated 10:5 a Bulgarian wrestler. In the quarterfinals the Armenian wrestler had lost to Georgia’s Zurabi Datunashvili (0:8) who had qualified for the finals letting Chalyan continue the struggle. Then the Armenian wrestler had beaten 8:0 Turkey’s Emrah Suleyman Kus in the repechage.
