IOC chooses Winter Olympic Games Coordination Commission

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has unveiled the composition of the commission that will support the organization of the Winter Olympic Games Milano Cortina 2026. Former athlete, two-time Olympic Games participant IOC member Finnish Sari Essayah was appointed the chairman of the commission. Richard Carrion (Puerto-Rico), Tricia Smith (Canada), Jiri Kejval (Czech Republic), Daina Gudzineviciute (Lithuania) and Kee Heung Lee (South Korea) were included in the commission.

“The Coordination Commission holds the necessary combination of knowledge and skills to partner with the Organising Committee in unlocking the full potential of this project. They will work hand in hand for an unforgettable experience for athletes and fans, and an indelible positive legacy for the hosts,” IOC President Thomas Bach said.

The Winter Olympic Games Milano Cortina 2026 will be held from 6-22 February. Last time Italy hosted the Olympic Games in Turin in 2006.
