On October 16-17 the NOC of Armenia held a seminar in Olympavan on “Collaboration between sports medicine and anti-doping activity” and “Problems and prospects in Armenia” in the framework of the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Olympic Solidarity program. The speakers of the seminar shared their impressions with the ANOC press service.

Areg Hovhannisyan: “The preliminary agreement was with Pavle Kasradze, head of the Sports Medicine Department of the Georgian Medical University and director of the National Anti-Doping Agency. Professor Achkasov, head of the Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Medicine Department of the First Medical Institute of Russia, should have been present too but, unfortunately, couldn’t come because of a pneumonitis. At the request of our physiotherapists and sports medics we organized Mikhil Kasatkin’s visit, one of the best specialists in kinesiotherapy in Europe. In my report I presented the new list of banned substances for 2020 and gave it to the participants. For the first time we listed and presented the list of the drugs that are not prohibited for the treatment of major diseases. It has been listed on the base of the questions received by the hotline during 10 years. According to the participants this seminar was the most useful among all the seminars held before. The NOC of Armenia has decided to choose 10-12 participants with whom Mikhail Kasatkin will conduct a one-week training next year in order to teach the physicians of the Olympic team the latest technics.”
Pavle Kasradze: “We had very interesting lectures. Areg Hovhannisyan presented the new list of banned substances for 2020; it was a very useful and interesting report. The participants were very interested in the seminar and it’s gratifying.”
Mikhail Kasatkin: “I’d like to stress that this is one of few seminars where the most reports are of a practical nature. Yesterday there was more theory and today we have practical lessons dedicated to the taping international practice, the audience is interesting and multi-layered. It’s interesting to work with such audience; it’s a new experience for me. Such seminars popularize sports medicine.”
