World Cup: Levon Aronyan drops out of competition

Levon Aronyan has dropped out of the FIDE World Cup being held in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia.
In the quarterfinal the Armenian GM lost to French Maxime Vachier-Lagrave in a tie-break. There had been no winner in the first two classic games.
Earlier three other representatives of Armenia had dropped out of the competition. Robert Hovhannisyan and Armenia’s current champion Arman Pashikyan had failed to overcome the first round and Sergei Movsesyan had lost to Chinese Ding Liren in the second round.
Levon Aronyan is the current winner of the FIDE World Cup.
