Bucharest 2019: Arsen Harutyunyan – European champion

Armenia freestyle wrestling team member Arsen Harutyunyan (61 kg) won the champion title in a tense and interesting fight at the European Championship in Bucharest.

In the finals the Armenian young wrestler won 17:11 European, world and European Games silver medalist Georgian Beka Lomtadze.

Moreover, losing 0:8, Harutyunyan once again managed to win due to his willpower. Earlier, 19-year-old Arsen Harutyunyan (61 kg) had started the struggle from the qualification round winning 14:8 Ukrainian Vladimir Burukov.

In the quarterfinals Arsen Harutyunyan’s opponent was Turk Recep Topal. Though Arsen was losing in the beginning of the bout he could overcome the opponent.

In the semifinals Harutyunyan’s rival was Romania’s Nikolay Okhlopkov for whom the whole hall was rooting but again Arsen managed to win 10:4 by sheer force of will.
