4 armenian players celebrated victories in the first round

The European Individual Chess Championship where Armenia has eight representatives has kicked off in Macedoni’a capital Skopje.


Hrant Melkumyan, Hayk Martirosyan, Samvel Ter-Sahakyan and Shant Sargsyan celebrated victories in the first round while Robert Hovhannisyan, Sergei Movsesian, Manuel Petrosyan and Armenia’s new champion Arman Pashikyan drew the games.


Ashot Vardapetyan is the chief arbiter of the European Championship. The championship has 357 participants including 142 GMs.
