Armenia's weightlifting team member Simon Martirosyan is a silver medalist of the 31st Summer Olympics.

In the first attempt of the snatch Martirosyan lifted 185kg, then held overhead 190kg but failed to lift 195kg during the third attempt.

Martirosyan started the clean and jerk from lifting 225kg, then lifted 227kg but didn't manage to lift 234kg. With a total of 417kg Martirosyan came in second.

Uzbek Ruslan Nurudinov became the champion of the Games scoring a total of 431kg. He set a record in the clean and jerk lifting a 237kg barbell.
