World Championship: Artur Aleksanyan secures Tokyo 2020 qualification

Artur Aleksanyan has reached the semifinal of the World Wrestling Championship underway in the Kazakh capital, Nur-Sultan.
In the quarterfinal the Olympic champion won 4:3 Iran’s Abdollah Saravi thus securing at list an Olympic qualification.
Aleksanyan had started the competition from the qualification round where he had defeated 5:0 Belarusian Aliaksandr Hrabovik . In the 1/16 final he had won 10:0 Finnish Matti Kuosmanen and in the ¼ final had beaten 4:2 Turk Cenk Ildem.
Today wrestlers of 67 kg and 87 kg weight classes performed too. Karen Aslanyan at 67 kg entered the competition from the 1/16 final winning there 10:1 Tajikistan’s Mubinjon Akhmedov but in the 1/8 final he conceded 3:6 to Egypt’s Ibrahim Elsayed.
Artur Shahinyan at 87 kg started from the qualification round and lost 1:4 to Cuban Daniel Gregorich.
At 72 kg Malkhas Amoyan conceded 4:7 to Korean Jiyeon Lee in the repechage round and lost the chance to wrestle for a bronze medal.
In the evening Slavik Galstyan at 63 kg will fight against Iran’s Meysam Dalkhani.
